Great opening segment.. kinda drawn out. The Pre-Nirvana section
has
a nice build in it. Excellent jamming around The Notes.
"Boy" at 6:02. WUDMTF segment is standard.. Page's jamming in
the
Tramps segment contains a lot of chording.. the typical spiel.
When Trey comes in to start the Jam Segment, he plucks like mad for
the first minute or so on the frets.. I don't know what kind of guitar
playing you'd call this, but he doesn't really start playing the
guitar until the 11 min point.. and then only briefly, before he
returns to this fret-picking-plucking (rhythmic plucking). Very
cool..
Trey's soloing in this jam segment is the Your Run of the Mill Melodic
Play.. just great stuff. No teases of any tunes that I can hear..
There's a very nice quiet section in here, for about thirty secs,
before the 13 min point.. nothing exciting, but it adds another aspect
to this otherwise typically awesome YEM jam segment.
Bass and drums at 13:42. A fantastic groove ... Trey is chording
a
bit.. Mike is funking melodically and rhythmically.. just grooving
really well with Fish, but nothing outrageously stellar occurs,
outside of the fact that it stretches awhile.. Page comes in again
around 14:45 chording. Mike is really just repetitively funking
away
in here, changing key at 15:20 or so.. a great melodic groove to close
the segment.
Closing WUDMTF/Vocal jam segment kicks in at 15:43. This vocal
jam is
just **MAD**.. really insane. Trey makes weeping noises at one
point. There are some echo effects in here, as well.. just nuts.
Weeping from Trey again.. A chant that sounds like "TOGA TOGA"
(Bellushi in Animal House). Briefly. Then "Rocking Chair"
(Mike and
Page). God this is psychotic.. what a messed up way to close
the
first set!! ;) This vocal jam drags on too long imo.. insane.
(very
amusing, though.. ;) Total time 20 minutes. "Don't go away.
We'll be
right back." (C+/B- rating)
