Another textbook opening. Hey, were any of you on this
tour? Tell us about it!!!! Anything you can remember
would be more than I know of the scene, and I'd love to
hear it, as would many others!
Nirvana at 1:53. Page's chording in here is extremely
light and jovial, not nearly as fantastic as it can be..
Mike's soloing is very high on his 'doc in the solo
section, and dizzying.. sahweet!! Trey's jamming in the
pre-charge segment, and the touches on the Notes, are all
fine fine fine fine fine.. nothing awe-inspiring for this
segment.
Charge at 5:06, and then "Boy" at 5:24. WUDMTF segment is
wholly standard, with nothing odd occurring.. I like
Page's jamming in here, though, especially just before the
tramps jam kicks in at 7:39. Kinda dull tramps jam.. Page
isn't wigging out very much.. oh well.
Jam segment at 9:14 with Trey ripping out this repetitive
theme that grabs you by the ears.. niiiiice! =^] Now THIS
is the way to crack open a YEM. A thrilling jam segment,
folks.. Page's accompaniment is straightforward (great),
there goes Mike sortof teasing Wilson again (this probably
isn't fair to call it this.. but he really doesn't usually
do this Wilson tease in YEM).
Trey's jamming throughout this segment just smokes! He is
all over the 'doc thematically, and the accompaniment is
stellar. Lots of rockin themes, some nice sustained high
notes and rapid descending licks. Severe trilling around
11:45.. just one hell of a lot more active and exciting a
jam segment than 10/31. Trey is trilling up his 'doc at
the close of the jam segment..
Bass and drums at 12:38 with Mike thematically funking,
and snapping some nice notes.. very tasty, and much longer
than the previous night's B&D!!
At 13:33, closing WUDMTF segment comes in, and the vocal
jam begins in short order. And begins *LOUD*.. "In a
hole" is definitely in here.. spoken. There's also a
tease of a tune I should probably know... yeah. Sounds
somewhat similar to the ending of that Doobie's tune that
I haven't listened to in a very, very long time. Isn't
really a tease of BLACK WATER, but sounds similar to its
ending at one point. My copy of this cuts to side B..
doesn't sound like anything is lost, but my timing will be
off. "Fly boy, your momma don't see toooooo
flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyboooooooooooooooyyyyyaaaaaaahhh."
Total time 17:30 or so. OR SO!!!
Great YEM. Definitely above average for the old
versions, and highly recommended (this show, 11/2, is
probably my favorite of the 10/30-11/4 run, but hell, I
really like them all..).
