Long pre-Nirvana segment.. Nirvana isn't until 2:34 or so! The
pre-Nirvana bit is just repetitive.. isn't especially thrilling or
mystical. No "vibration of life" effect or anything groovy like
that. Page's noodling in the Nirvana section is delightful..
nothing
profound, though. Mike's solo-section is typically weird... some
eerie bass effect. Pre-charge is standard. Trey's first
shot at The
Note at 4:55 is on target, and the jamming between it and the second
Note is ok.. nothing exciting or unusual, though. Second hit
at the
note at 5:43.. pretty nice jamming around it, but sounds a bit too
rough around the edges to warrant special praise.
"Boy" at 6:19, after a Trey & Mike combination scream. Mike's
funking
in the WUDMTF segment is pretty damn clear on this DSBD.. niiice. ;)
WUDMTF segment is pretty standard.. Tramps segment kicks in around
8:32 or so, and Page's jamming is The Usual.. Mike's signals.. on dem
tramps for sure.
Trey opens the jam segment at 10:23, after a minute of some nice
jamming from Page. Trey opens low on the 'doc searching
for a theme,
which he finds and repeats after about 30 seconds.. just an
ascending/descending groove. He leaves it shortly, though, and
starts
melodiously noodling in a more typically YEM-like fashion. Nice
stuff
from him in here, but as of 12 minutes, nothing outrageous for him
at
all. Just typically smokin' noodling... more fiery around the
12:40
point, for sure, though! Must be close to zee conclusion.. ooooouuu..
some nice sustaining around 13 minutes, and then subsequent
trilling!!! =^] Allah be praised!! Yes!! Great conclusion
to this
jam segment!
B&D at 13:32, with Mike ripping out some ferocious bass licks, that
sound oooouu sooo tasty on this DSBD. Some great accompaniment from
Fish, too. A very sweeet B&D for sure.. Mike is very active,
considering how uncertain he can sometimes be in this segment.
He
teases Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" around 14:30, and then Trey
teases it with him.. then drops it.. Mike continues to funk around.
DAMN IS THIS A LONG BASS AND DRUMS SEGMENT!!!!!!
At 15:32, final WUDMTF segment kicks in, and it is FAAAASSSSST and
crazy as usual. YEEEEEOWW.. YEEEE-IIIIII YEEEE-ooooooo
Yeeeee-IIIIIGHH.. YO-Yo'ing.. rollin on a river (Credence) tease..
then a Rawhide vocal jam.. ;) No shit. But it is brief..
A very
soul-full, practically Gospel-flavored vocal jam.. Good stuff. "I'm
UNLOADin'" is cleary repeteated a few times.. Total time 19:55 total
time. A little Pause, then Reba.. (B rating for this YEM)
Reba is
very beautiful, fwiw, but not exceptionally so, in my opinion, even
though Trey is VERY active and melodious in his noodling.. it is your
run of the mill, gorgeous, enchanting Reba.. BUT IT'S SHORT, like all
the older versions.
