Hershey Park - December 1, 1995, best seats I've ever had for a show and one of the best shows I
have ever seen. Great energy and beautiful jams were played throughout the ssecond set. Finally
played an awesome MIke's>hh2>weekapaug and a killer Mango. - One of the best nights of my life

12/1/95 Hershey Park Arena     Hershey,PA

It was a very small arena, so the crowd went nuts. Great show, get
the tape if you can. Highlights included: Wilson, Chalkdust, Stash,
Poor Heart, and the Suzi Greenberg encore.

 Phish @ Hersheypark Arena, Hershey PA-- 12/1/95

This was only my second show, and the first had been at a massive arena with only mediocre
sound. Hershey is a fairly small arena, and the sound was incredible. Security was
fairly laid-back, and while they did not slack off to the point that it was anarchic, they
were easy-going enough that everybody had a good time.

It wasn9t too cold out, so the scene was good. I heard a fantastic drum circle... I had
never heard one before. When we got inside, my friend Micah and I were blown away.
Ticketmaster had sold out in about two hours, so we got our tickets from the venue. They
sold us 3obstructed view2 seats (for $5 less than regular price) that were about 30-40
feet from Fish. We were facing Page, looking almost directly across the stage. With the
exception of bar-band shows, I have never had better seats for anything.

Almost immediately, the show was a success:

I

Buried Alive- this song is good no matter when they play it, and it was a perfect way to
start the show -->
DW/D- I know (for a lot of people) this song has two strikes against it, being an album
song, and being from _Hoist_, but the version they played was incredible. Trey9s solo
went on for at least four minutes. We had a perfect view of Page9s face, and he was
grinning like a mad man. He was having a lot of fun with this one.
TFTB- I had heard this on tapes, and hadn9t been too crazy about it. Being there live,
though, I really liked it. Nice (short) jam in the middle.
Poor Heart- Wow! They played this at almost 2x speed, and it was great. Fish was all
over the place! He went wild at his kit.
Wolfman9s Brother- same deal as DW/D, I guess. It was good, though. At one point Trey
kind of goofed, and said, 3I liked that last part so much we9re going to do it again!2 He
got it right the second time.-->
Chalkdust- Nuff said. Definitely a highlight.
Colonel Forbin- the crowd went wild when this one started, because everyone knew it meant
-->
Narration! Rather than give the straight Gamehendge spiel, Trey told a story of how Greek
Philosophy, the Helping Friendly Book, and Hershey9s chocolate are all related.
Mockingbird- Average, but still a good song.
Stash- Wow! This is one of those songs that tapes just cannot do justice to. Between the
lights, and the fact that you could _feel_ the music, not just hear it, it was almost a
spiritual experience.
Cavern- Not all that exciting, but it did bring the guys back together a bit.

II

Halley9s Comet- Nice song to get a set started. Brought the energy level in the crowd up
enough for -->
Mike9s Groove- I have heard this on many tapes, and it is never the same twice. This
night was one of the best I9ve heard. I kind of got lost in the jam, and forgot what was
coming until they started into Weekapaug. Best 1/2 hour of my life, no contest. But
wait!  There9s more!-->
Mango Song- Page went crazy at the end and I loved it. His solo was better than any I9ve
heard.
Wilson- this song may be over-played (it9s on just about every tape I have) but it is fun,
singing along and all that jazz. After this, though, they had to lighten the mood with:
Suspicious Minds- Trey took over at the drums, and Fish sang. In the middle, Fish ran off
and got his cape. He then did his whole routine, finishing up by showing off the
Christmas lights on the inside. At the end of the song, Trey kept pumping up the tempo
until Fish was just screaming (sounded a lot like Janis Joplin)
Catapult-->
DAVID BOWIE!- incredible. It was short, but in the ten minutes or so they played it,
there was more energy than I have ever heard from any group.

E

Suzie Greenberg- The absolute best part of the show, no question. I had never heard it
before, so it was especially nice for me. Trey kept pointing at someone in the crowd and
gesturing for her to come up on-stage, but she didn9t.

Great show. I have HQ tapes of it. Drop me a line and we can trade.

	Best show I've ever seen. Excellent venue for Phish show. From
opening with Buried Alive to encore with Suzie Greenburg, Phish
mezmorized and enlivened the crowd. Securty reminded showgoers of Nazi
Germany but the sets definately made up for it. Phishman's Elvis is in
peak form. Captivating dialouge on how the divergence of the western
and eastern philosophies led to America's adiction to Hershey's
chocolate. Hope that I am lucky enough to see another show as good as
this one.
