I have seen several posts of the setlist for the Keswick shows,
but no reviews. So here goes...

Set I:
Buried Alive opener sounded great. The band seemed to be in a
really upbeat mood, and I was psyched by this song for a GREAT! show.
But... somewhere around Fee, sound problems started. The megaphone idea
on Fee just didn't work (way too much feedback). Also, especially during
the first set, Page's organ seemed too loud and tinny (or shrilly? I'm not
sure of the right adjective here). Maybe I was just too close (row HH
right in front of Page), but I had to cringe a couple times. Funny,
though, the piano sounded fine. Go figure. Musically, the high points of
the set were Maze, It's Ice, and Squirming Coil. Antelope was, as always,
spectacular, but not the best I've ever heard.

Set II:
Much better, top to bottom. Chalkdust Torture *SMOKED*. I think
I'm now a fan of that song :-). Lizards was also awesome once it got
going. Trey had to ask the audience for the second verse, 'cuz he
completely forgot! Musically, every song (except the glitch in Lizards)
was well done. There were some disappointments, though :-(. First, why
did they only play one new song (Fast Enough For You, which was great)? I
really wanted to hear more. More importantly, no Big Ball Jam?!? Come on,
boys. Trey even told us during the Lizards mishap that the Big Balls were
coming out, but they never did.

Overall, I can't say that the show was a disappointment (Phish *NEVER*
is), but, at the same time, this was not the best show I've ever seen,
either. Oh well, there's always New Year's :-). About security, at first,
they tried to enforce (with flashlights) the no smoking (tobacco or
otherwise) rule at first. By the second set, though, I think they gave
up, because I didn't even see a guard anywhere. Philly security has this
way of being much cooler than New York, for example (go ahead, New
Yorkers, flame me, if you want :-).

See ya at New Year's,
jb

Phish-folks:
Well it's Monday and I haven't yet seen a review or any mention of the
Keswick show, so here's some info. I may have a title or two wrong,
it was my first real Phish show. The songs:
I ?- Poor Heart, Landlady, Fee- Maze, Sparkle, It's Ice-
Squirming Coil, Cavern, Sweet Adeline, ?, Run Like An Antelope
II Chalkdust- Foam, Not Fast Enough, YEM, Lizards, Tweezer-
Cracklin' Rosie, My Sweet One- Tweezer reprise
e Harry Hood, Carolina

It was a nice small place; I was sitting right in front of the left
speaker column. I only saw 2 other netheads, whose names I don't
remember, but I did get to say hello to Amy. I wasn't crazy about
the unknown tune in the first set (a new one?), but thought Not Fast
Enough was great. Trey forgot the lyrics to Lizards, and stopped the
song after the first verse. Said he was nervous because his grandfather
was in the audience, then asked the audience for the lyrics to the next
verse. It sounded to me like something in the left speaker column blew
during Lizards, because for the rest of the show Trey's voice and guitar
were real distorted. I enjoyed the show a lot, but can't compare it to
others because it was my first. I'm real psyched for NYE though.

Help me. My first show, and I have heard very few things better than that
"Maze." Page was excellent!! So were those seats (even the ushers were
impressed (AAA 101-103 --wow)) hello to all the other pholks down by the
stage--way to take our seats for the second set :-)
Anyway, if anyone has tapes (I really don't care what kind) I would love
to trade... I have phish, R.E.M. and Robyn Hitchcock live to
trade...Please help!
Thanks a lot!!
